COVINGTON — Bonnie Bates, 93, Covington, formerly of Calumet City, Ill., died Monday, Aug. 27, 2007 in The Waters of Covington. She was a longtime resident of Calumet City, Ill. She was a member of the Edward Schultz American Legion Auxiliary and the Presbyterian Church in Calumet City, Ill. She was an avid crocheter and enjoyed bowling. She enjoyed life most when surrounded by family. Survivors include: a son, Walter (Sharon), Kingman; five daughters, Laura (Carl), Kingman, Janice (late Ray), Calumet City, Ill., Bonnie (Ray), Chebase, Ill., Mary (Ray), Wheatfield, and Diane (Larry), Demotte; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; two children at birth; two brothers; two sisters, and a great-grandchild. Funeral services were at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Ill. Burial was in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. – jlr
